Sydney J. Bounds

Sydney James Bounds (4 novembre 1920-24 novembre 2006) è stato uno scrittore britannico. Ha pubblicato come Sydney J. Bounds e S. J. Bounds, oltre a utilizzare gli pseudonimi Clifford Wallace, James Marshall, Earl Ellison e Rex Marlowe. Ha scritto più di quaranta romanzi e centinaia di racconti, molti pubblicati utilizzando pseudonimi o in forma anonima. Era conosciuto soprattutto per la sua fantascienza, ma scriveva anche horror, western, gialli e ragazzi. Il debutto professionale di Bounds con il suo nome avvenne nel 1946 nel primo numero della rivista Outlands, la cui pubblicazione lasciò a Bounds la sensazione che la sua carriera postbellica come installatore elettrico fosse meno interessante di quella di scrittura di romanzi. I limiti non si sono mai sposati. Ha vissuto a Kingston upon Thames fino al maggio 2006, quando si è trasferito a Telford, Shropshire, dove è morto il 25 novembre 2006 all'età di 86 anni. Dal 2007 il suo nome è onorato dal Sydney J. Bounds Best Newcomer Award dei British Fantasy Awards (un revival dei precedenti Icarus and Newcomer Awards), che è sponsorizzato e finanziato dalla sua proprietà.
